99 - Facing a Mirror on Friday the 13th

【13日の金曜日の合わせ鏡、juusan-nichi no kin'youbi no awase kagami】

It is said that if one looks into a mirror on Friday the 13th at the moment the clock strikes midnight, the image of the devil will appear from within an endless world of mirrors.

In addition, there are many other legends about the act of looking into a mirror on Friday the 13th.

One says that the 13th mirror from your side will show your face at the time of your death.

Another claims that the date of one's death will emerge in bloody letters on the surface of the mirror.

There is also a rumor that the 13th mirror will reflect your future spouse.

Originally, Friday the 13th was considered an unlucky day because it was said to be the day on which Christ died.

Mirrors were often considered sacred tools, as seen in the Kojiki (Records of Ancient Matters) with "Yata no Kagami (Eight-span Mirror)", one of the Three Sacred Treasures, and in Greek mythology as the mirror in which Perseus reflected the image of the witch Medusa in order to defeat her.

The mirror also evokes the idea of another world that exists beyond the real world, and this, combined with the image of an infinite array of mirrors, has given rise to a variety of legends about the mysterious things that appear within mirrors.
