81 - Satoru-kun

【さとるくん、satoru-kun】
[Satoru, while it has many possible meanings as a name, is also a verb meaning "to know", or even "to attain enlightenment"]

From a pay phone, call your own mobile phone number with a ten-yen coin and chant "Satoru-kun, Satoru-kun, please come".

Then hang up and turn off your phone.

Thereafter, within a few days, Satoru-kun will call you on your cell phone, which should still be turned off.

At first, Satoru-kun will inform you of his whereabouts and hang up the phone. However, Satoru-kun will later call several times.

Each time, Satoru-kun will gradually get closer.

Finally, Satoru-kun will say from the other end of the phone, "I'm right behind you now..."

At this time, if you are to ask him a question, he'll answer it truthfully no matter what.

However, if you can't think of a question or turn around... You will be killed by Satoru-kun's own hand.

This is the urban legend of "Satoru-kun".

There is an urban legend similar to this "Satoru-kun" called "Kaijin Answer". [Kaijin means "mystery person"]

Ten people form a circle with cell phones and call the person next to them at the same time.

Then, one of the phones, which would normally be busy, receives an incoming call.

That's the call from "Kaijin Answer".

"Kaijin Answer" will answer any question from any of the people present.

However, only one of the ten will be asked a question in return. If they fail to answer the question, "Kaijin Answer" will take away a part of their body.

Satoru-kun is a modern urban legend using the contemporary tool of cell phones, but, needless to say, it is a legend created by mixing existing urban legends such as "Mr. Kokkuri" and "Ms. Mary's Call".

In addition, "Kaijin Answer" has been identified as an artificial rumor created by an Internet BBS.
