The primary method of proving one's status as a police officer is through the police identification handbook.
It contains an officer's identification information, the regulations regarding its use and the police's duties, and a schedule that can be filled out, but although it originally may have been a notebook where one could jot down memos, it no longer fulfills such a role as one would expect.
In TV dramas, the cover of the handbook is often shown to prove that the person is a detective, but according to Article 5 of the Police Identification Handbook Regulations, the officer is obliged to show the first page, which contains one's photo ID and affiliation, whenever necessary.
However, when conducting simple investigations or interviews, detectives often hand over their business cards instead of showing their IDs.
