【五徳、gotoku】
[This exact word can also be used to describe the Five Virtues of Buddhism]An implement used to hold an iron kettle or other object over a fire. It consists of an iron or ceramic ring with three or four legs. During the Hour of the Ox Pilgrimage ritual, a candle is lit on each of the legs.
Even today, the removable round iron ring used to place pots and pans on a gas stove is called a gotoku.
